Baumley Farms
In 1991, we established what has become a 19-acre farm operation in Franklin Township. The site was carefully chosen to grow plant material locally, in the same climate and soil type that exists at your home. This practice maximizes the survival rate of each and every plant from our field to your yard. All of our plant material is hand dug and balled in burlap. Our larger caliper trees are hand drum-laced.
Once it arrives at the Garden Center, each tree is placed on drip irrigation ensuring freshness until it is planted. We grow a diverse selection of trees, including hard-to-find species such as Japanese Stewartia, Paperbark Maple, Copper Beech, American Hollies, Dogwoods, Redbuds and Ornamental Cherries. Our trees have been planted far and wide, from estates in Philadelphia’s Main Line to manors in Long Island and Massachusetts.
We take special care to create an ideal, natural environment for the plants grown on our farm. The farm is fenced for protection from deer damage and drip-irrigated to provide each plant with the amount of water it needs daily. The placement of more than 40 birdhouses to support a healthy bluebird population provides natural pest control throughout our fields. The abundant supply of berries remaining on hollies, dogwoods and viburnums provides a significant source of food for countless bird species during the cold winter months.
A unique selection of specimen-size trees, from 12’ American Hollies to 6” caliper Copper Beech Paperbark Maples and Japanese Stewartia has made our farm a destination for a diverse clientele.
